Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued, effective until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with daytime high temperatures reaching into the 90s.

The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA reports that nights will offer little relief, with low temperatures remaining very warm, ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s. This prolonged heat significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.

To protect yourselves and others, the NWS urges the following actions: Drink plenty of fluids, seek shelter in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of direct sunlight. Please check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to the heat.

It is critical to remember that car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly. Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles.
