A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Perry County, affecting the areas of Beaumont, New Augusta, and Richton, as of October 9 at 6:53 PM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL. This warning is in effect until October 10, 2026, at 3:00 AM UTC.

Residents should act now to complete preparations, as hazardous winds are expected. Peak wind gusts could reach 45 mph, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited impacts are anticipated, including damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect broken tree limbs, potential for some trees to be snapped or uprooted, and scattered power and communications outages. A few roads may become impassable due to debris, and hazardous driving conditions are possible on bridges.

While no additional significant rainfall is forecasted, localized flooding rain is possible. Emergency plans should include potential for localized flooding from heavy rain. Heed any flood watches and warnings. The NWS indicates that the situation is unfavorable for tornadoes, and none are expected at this time.
