Tropical Cyclone Isaias Moving Away; Flood and Tornado Risks Remain

Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias is moving away, leading to the cancellation of all tropical watches and warnings, but flood and tornado risks remain for the eastern Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, southeastern Alabama, and southwestern Georgia.

TALLAHASSEE, FL – October 10, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has issued a Tropical Cyclone Local Statement indicating that Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias is moving away from the region. All tropical watches and warnings have been canceled as of 5:09 AM EDT. However, residents in the eastern Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, southeastern Alabama, and southwestern Georgia are urged to remain vigilant due to ongoing risks.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend Forgotten Coast through today, with inundation of 1 to 3 feet above normally dry ground possible. A Flood Watch remains in effect for areas east of US-19, as additional bands of showers with embedded heavy rain are expected to focus across the Forgotten Coast, Florida Big Bend, and the I-75 corridor. Some areas, including coastal Walton County, FL, western Geneva, and Coffee County, AL, have already seen 7 to 8 inches of rain, with isolated amounts exceeding 10 inches, leading to likely standing water.

While the tornado risk has diminished, a window of opportunity for potential tornadic circulations within the rain bands exists through this afternoon for the Florida Big Bend and parts of Southwest Georgia. Residents should have multiple ways to receive Tornado Warnings and be ready to shelter quickly.

Despite improving conditions, the NWS advises caution regarding damage such as downed trees and power lines, standing water, and hazardous beach conditions. Do not attempt to return to evacuated areas until local authorities give the all-clear. Avoid sightseeing, as it interferes with emergency responders. When inspecting damage, use flashlights, not candles. Be careful with chainsaws, and if using a generator, operate it in a well-ventilated space outside. Stay away from floodwaters and listen for boil water alerts. Remain informed of river forecasts due to potential flooding from rising rivers and streams.
