Thomas Redgate Appointed to Punta Gorda Historic Preservation Board
Punta Gorda City Council has announced the appointment of local resident Thomas Redgate to the Historic Preservation Board. The decision was made during the Council's regular meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at City Hall, located at 326 W. Marion Avenue in the historic downtown.
Redgate, a longtime resident known for his keen interest in Punta Gorda's rich history and architectural heritage, will serve a three-year term. His appointment fills a vacancy on the seven-member board, which is responsible for reviewing proposed changes to historic properties and districts, and advising the City Council on matters of historic preservation.
Council members expressed confidence that Redgate's local knowledge and dedication to preserving the unique character of Punta Gorda, with its Victorian architecture and Charlotte Harbor waterfront, will be a valuable asset to the board. The Historic Preservation Board typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 AM in the City Council Chambers. These meetings are open to the public.
