Tequesta Building Department Now Offers Virtual Inspections for Streamlined Permitting

The Village of Tequesta Building Department now offers virtual inspection options, allowing contractors to complete certain inspections using a smartphone. This new service aims to streamline the inspection process for local contractors and residents.

Standard inspections continue to run Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 12 noon. The department does not schedule exact appointment times for these traditional inspections. To schedule a standard inspection, residents can use the online portal, email, or call 561-768-0450. When scheduling, provide the job address, permit number, inspection type, and contact name and telephone number. The cutoff time for scheduling any inspection, whether standard or virtual, is 3 p.m. the day before the desired inspection.

The new virtual inspection tool allows inspectors to conduct thorough reviews remotely. Contractors need a smartphone (Apple iOS or Android) with a camera and internet connection. The device must have permissions enabled for location, camera, and microphone. The interactive inspection session is browser-based, meaning no special application download is necessary.

Virtual inspections are currently available for specific permit types. These include roofs, windows and doors, water heater change-outs, AC change-outs, and signs. When scheduling a virtual inspection, contractors should provide a phone number for the onsite contractor who will participate. Near the scheduled inspection time, this designated contractor will receive a text message from a Village inspector containing the virtual inspection session link.

This initiative from the Tequesta Building Department provides a flexible option for contractors, potentially saving time and reducing costs associated with traditional onsite inspections.
