Tampa Police Officer Kevin Casazza Arrested for DUI on I-275

TAMPA, FL. – An off-duty probationary Tampa Police officer faced arrest on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) late Saturday night, May 9, 2026. Authorities arrested Kevin Casazza, an officer with the Tampa Police Department, just before midnight following a traffic stop on Interstate 275 near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., a key route weaving through Tampa's diverse urban neighborhoods.
Chief Lee Bercaw addressed the incident, stating, "This incident is deeply disappointing. Every employee, on or off duty, is expected to hold themselves to the highest standards. That also includes our officers abiding by the same laws they swore to uphold."
The Tampa Police Department hired Casazza in 2025. He had not yet completed his probationary training. The department immediately relieved him of duty due to the criminal investigation. The Tampa Police Department will also conduct an internal investigation into the matter.
