Preservation Foundation Awards $10,000 Scholarship to FAMU Architecture Student
The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach has announced its first recipient of the Jerry A. Tishman $10,000 scholarship, awarded to Dwinessa Pratt, a 27-year-old architecture student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU).
Ms. Pratt, originally from Nassau, Bahamas, received the significant scholarship to support her graduate education in architecture at FAMU. She is currently pursuing her master’s thesis, though specific details of her thesis focus were not immediately available.
This new scholarship initiative by the Preservation Foundation aims to foster architectural talent and support students dedicated to the field. The $10,000 award will contribute directly to Ms. Pratt's ongoing studies, enabling her to continue her work towards her master's degree.
The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach is a local organization dedicated to protecting the architectural and cultural heritage of the barrier island town of Palm Beach, renowned for its Mediterranean Revival estates and landmarks like the Flagler Museum. This scholarship represents a new avenue for the Foundation to extend its impact beyond local preservation efforts by investing in future architects.
