Palm Beach, FL – The Palm Beach Town Council voted unanimously last night, April 16, 2026, to approve a new contract for the ongoing beach renourishment project. The decision, made during their regular monthly meeting at Town Hall on Peruvian Avenue, ensures the continued protection of the island’s coastline.

The approved contract, valued at an estimated $12 million, was awarded to Coastal Dredging Solutions, a firm with extensive experience in similar projects along the Florida coast. This new agreement covers the next phase of sand replenishment for areas identified as critically eroded, primarily focusing on the stretch from the Southern Boulevard Beach Access north to the Palm Beach Inlet.

Town Manager Sarah Jenkins presented the proposal to the council, emphasizing the necessity of consistent renourishment efforts to safeguard local properties and maintain the town’s natural beauty. “Our beaches are not just a recreational asset; they are our primary defense against storm surge and erosion,” Jenkins stated during her presentation. “This contract secures the vital work needed to protect our community for the foreseeable future.”

The project is expected to commence in late summer, following the conclusion of sea turtle nesting season, to minimize environmental impact. Residents can anticipate increased activity along the designated beach areas, including heavy equipment and temporary access restrictions, though efforts will be made to keep disruptions to a minimum.

Funding for the project will come from a combination of town reserves, state grants, and a portion of the county’s tourist development tax, reflecting the broad benefit of healthy beaches to the region, including the vibrant local economy tied to our oceanfront lifestyle. Further details regarding specific timelines and public access points during the renourishment will be announced by the Public Works Department in the coming weeks.

Residents interested in learning more about the beach renourishment program can visit the Town of Palm Beach website or contact the Public Works Department directly.
