Lookout Mountain Nature Center: Free Trails in Golden
The Lookout Mountain Nature Center in Golden offers free naturalist-led programs and trail access to Jefferson County residents and visitors. Located at 910 Colorow Road, the center features interactive exhibits on foothills flora and fauna, a hands-on children's playroom, and an observation room.
The center operates Friday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Programs throughout the year cover local wildlife, plants, and history. For inquiries, call or email the center.
The Beaver Brook Trail, open daily from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset, connects Clear Creek Canyon Park, Genesee Mountain Park (home to a historic buffalo herd), and Windy Saddle Park. The hiker-only trail crosses multiple jurisdictions with varying regulations.
