Gale Warning and Watch Issued for Delaware Bay Waters

Mariners operating in the Delaware Bay waters south of East Point, NJ to Slaughter Beach, DE should immediately alter plans to avoid hazardous conditions due to a Gale Warning and an upcoming Gale Watch.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly, NJ has issued a Gale Warning effective until 8:00 PM EDT tonight, September 24th. This warning forecasts northeast winds of 20 to 30 knots with gusts up to 35 knots and very rough waters.

Following this, a Gale Watch will be in effect from Friday morning, September 25th, through Saturday afternoon, September 26th. During the Gale Watch, north winds of 25 to 35 knots with gusts up to 40 knots and rough waters are possible.

These strong winds will create hazardous seas, posing a risk of capsizing or damaging vessels and reducing visibility. Mariners are instructed to remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure their vessels for these hazardous conditions.
