For instance, did you know that the original Saint Johns post office, established in 1887, was located within what is now the historic building on Main Street in the heart of downtown St. Johns, currently housing 'The Daily Grind' coffee shop? Many locals grab their morning coffee there without realizing the building's long-standing connection to the community's communication history.

Another piece of local trivia often discussed at the barber shop is the origin of the 'Red Cedar River Days' festival. While it's a beloved annual event now, it actually started as a small community picnic organized by the Saint Johns Women's Club in 1952, initially held at the City Park near the river. It wasn't until the late 1960s that it grew into the multi-day celebration we know today, attracting visitors from across St. Johns County.
