Cassidy, Marilyn
A local resident, Marilyn Cassidy, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at her home in Venice, Florida. She was 88 years old.
Marilyn was a familiar face in the Venice community for over five decades, known for her warm smile and active involvement in various local organizations. She moved to Venice in 1971 and quickly became an integral part of the fabric of the town.
For many years, Marilyn volunteered her time at the Venice Public Library, assisting with book drives and children's reading programs. She was also a dedicated member of the Venice Garden Club, contributing to the beautification of several public spaces, including the planters along West Venice Avenue.
Her passion for community extended to the Venice Historical Society, where she served on the board for ten years, helping to preserve and share the rich history of our Gulf Coast town. Many will remember her engaging presentations on early Venice pioneers at the society's monthly meetings.
Marilyn is survived by her loving family and a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss her kindness and unwavering commitment to Venice. Details regarding a memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
