Storm Surge Warning: Life-Threatening Flooding, High Winds for Coastal Gulf

A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Coastal Gulf, including Port Saint Joe and Cape San Blas, with life-threatening flooding, high winds, and tornado threats. Shelter immediately.

A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for the Coastal Gulf area, including Port Saint Joe and Cape San Blas, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 5:05 PM EDT. Residents are urged to shelter immediately due to life-threatening conditions.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. All ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in safe shelters. If in an affected area, remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside. Move to upper floors to escape rising water if necessary.

Tropical Storm force winds of 40-50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected until early Saturday morning. Last-minute efforts to protect property should now be complete. The area remains subject to limited wind damage, and now is the time to shelter from hazardous wind.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain possible. This could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. A Tornado Watch is also in effect, with a very favorable situation for tornadoes. Stay within your shelter and move quickly to the safest place if a tornado warning is issued. The warning is set to expire on October 10 at 1:15 AM UTC.
