Winter Weather Advisory Issued: Snow and High Winds Expected
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for north-central Montana, effective from this evening until Monday morning, with 3-10 inches of snow and winds up to 40 mph expected, potentially impacting travel and causing power outages.
Residents in the East Glacier Park Region, Northern High Plains, Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, Central Pondera, Eastern Toole, Liberty, Western and Central Chouteau County, Bears Paw Mountains, Southern Blaine, and Fergus County (below 4500ft) should prepare for a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from 6 PM this evening, October 10th, until 6 AM MDT Monday, October 12th. The National Weather Service in Great Falls, Montana, issued the advisory at 12:32 AM MDT today.
Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected across lower elevations, with 5 to 10 inches in mountainous areas. Locally higher amounts are possible. Winds are forecast to gust as high as 40 mph. Travel could become difficult, and gusty winds combined with heavy, wet snow may bring down tree branches, potentially leading to isolated power outages.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511. Snowfall amounts on roadways, especially at lower elevations, are expected to accumulate primarily between the evening hours and late Monday morning.
