A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Eastern Pondera and Eastern Teton counties, effective from Saturday, October 10, at 6:00 PM MDT until Monday, October 12, at 6:00 AM MDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Great Falls, Montana, issued the alert today, October 9, at 11:29 AM MDT, advising residents to prepare for severe winter weather.

Heavy snow is expected, with total accumulations projected to be between 3 and 6 inches. The NWS warns that travel could become very difficult. Gusty winds, combined with the wet and heavy nature of the snow, may lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages.

Snowfall amounts will vary, with lower elevations seeing accumulations on non-grassy surfaces primarily from Saturday evening through late Monday morning. Road conditions may differ significantly from grassy areas.

If travel is essential, the NWS advises keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511.
