Residents in the Santa Lucia Mountains, Southern Salinas Valley, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, and Santa Ynez Valley are advised to take precautions against dangerously hot conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Heat Advisory effective until 8:00 PM PDT this evening, October 8.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 90 degrees Fahrenheit near the coast and up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit further inland. These extreme temperatures carry a risk of heat-related illnesses.

The NWS strongly recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and avoiding direct sun exposure. Community members are also encouraged to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to the heat.
