Residents living near Manatee Elementary School are raising concerns about significant traffic congestion and safety issues stemming from parent drop-offs and pick-ups. The situation, described by one parent as a "nightmare" and "chaos of kids," is causing traffic to back up and blocking exits to neighborhoods like Spinnaker Bay Drive.

The complaints reached local news outlets, including an Instagram message alleging traffic congestion, damage to grass, and safety risks to children around the school. The message detailed how parents make quick stops on the road to drop off children when no parking space is available on the side, exacerbating the traffic problem.

Michelle, a mother picking up her children, acknowledged the frustration of residents. She explained that while there are not enough parking spaces, she chooses to park at an approved county park nearby and walk to the school. This method takes her about 15 minutes, a significant improvement over the two and a half hours she once spent waiting in the traditional drop-off line.

Observations during morning drop-off hours confirmed vehicles pulled over along the roadway, with some parked directly in front of "No Parking" signs and signs prohibiting drop-offs in travel lanes. Police presence has been noted in the area, but parents reportedly ignore the enforcement efforts. Records show 14 citations were issued near Manatee Elementary in one day.
