Thousands gathered at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, on Friday, October 9, 2026, to celebrate the life of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch. The two-time Cup champion died May 21 at age 41 from complications of pneumonia.
The ceremony honored Busch's career and impact. A poignant moment came when his 11-year-old son, Brexton, performed burnouts in one of his father's Cup cars. Brexton then stood on the car's roof, accepted a checkered flag from his mother, Samantha, and sister, Lennix, and replicated his father's signature bow. Busch performed the bow after his 234 NASCAR national series victories, which included 63 Cup wins.
Samantha Busch told attendees the celebration marked a continuation of her husband's story. "This is not the end of Kyle's story. His story continues every time we give a young racer a chance, share something he taught us or tell the next generation what made Rowdy unforgettable," she said. She expressed hope that Busch would be remembered as one of NASCAR's greatest drivers and for his positive impact on people's lives.
Speakers included Kyle's brother, Kurt Busch; former team owner Joe Gibbs; and drivers Christopher Bell, Noah Gragson, Daniel Suárez, Kyle Larson, and Austin Dillon. Suárez recalled Busch's mentorship, sharing how Busch offered guidance weekly when Suárez was a new Joe Gibbs Racing driver with limited English. "I was just a kid from Mexico that could barely speak English. I was nobody. And he'd give me a hand when I needed it the most — with absolutely nothing in return. That just tells you who he was," Suárez said.
