The Christ School Appoints Alissa Plaisance as New Head of School

The Christ School Board of Trustees has appointed Alissa Plaisance as the new Head of School. The decision followed a comprehensive search process involving the Head of School Search Committee and Parent and Faculty Subcommittees.

Plaisance brings over 25 years of experience in education, including roles as a classroom teacher, instructional support specialist, and professional development leader. Most recently, she served as Director of The Bridge and Student Support at The Christ School.

Amanda McEwan, Chairwoman of The Christ School Board of Trustees, expressed confidence in the appointment. “Alissa brings an exceptional combination of experience, vision, character, and a deep love for our students, faculty, staff, and families,” McEwan said.

Plaisance holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Exceptional Education from the University of Central Florida and has pursued advanced executive education, including the Harvard Certificate in School Leadership and Management.

During her 11 years at The Christ School, Plaisance led various initiatives and oversaw The Bridge, the school’s dyslexia program. She is recognized for her collaborative leadership, dedication to faculty culture, family engagement, and ensuring students receive appropriate challenge and support. The Board believes her expertise and understanding of The Christ School community qualify her for this leadership role as the school celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Plaisance shared her enthusiasm for the role. “It is with great joy, humility, and confidence in God’s faithfulness that I accept the opportunity to serve as the next Head of School at The Christ School,” she said. She plans to partner with faculty, staff, families, alumni, and supporters to strengthen the school’s Christ-centered mission and pursue excellence.
