Boyd High Football Players Face Felony Hazing Charges

Four varsity football players from Boyd High School in Boyd, Texas, face felony charges after an alleged locker room hazing incident on Thursday, Sept. 3, that resulted in injuries to a 14-year-old student.

Court documents and statements from Boyd Police Officer Ray Cannon state that the victim was allegedly restrained, stripped, and dragged into a shower area. The victim reported crying, screaming, and attempting to escape the assault. Arrest warrants indicate the student suffered spinal and back injuries.

A coach reportedly heard the commotion and told the students to "settle down" before leaving the locker room. Later, the victim met with coaching staff, and one coach allegedly told the student the situation "needed to be handled in the locker room and didn’t need to be reported further up." Police emphasized the actions constituted criminal assault, not harmless hazing.

Facing charges are 17-year-olds Chason Lee-Earl Tucker and Noah Davis Stevens, along with two juveniles. They are charged with felony injury to a child causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint.

Attorneys for Stevens argued that such behavior has been part of the school's locker room culture for years, referring to it as "hijinks." Police maintain the actions were a criminal assault.

Security cameras from a nearby weight room reportedly captured a portion of the incident. The victim's parents contacted the Boyd High School principal following the alleged assault. Authorities are continuing the investigation and stress the importance of consequences for such actions, regardless of age.
