Lewiston area residents, along with those in Lower Garfield and Asotin Counties and the Okanogan Valley, are advised to take immediate steps to protect tender plants and outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service (NWS) Spokane has issued a Freeze Watch effective from Monday evening through Tuesday morning, October 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM PDT.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. Areas specifically affected include Pomeroy, Omak, Brewster, Gifford, Lewiston Grade, Alpowa Summit, Bridgeport, Clarkston, Nespelem, Lewiston, Tonasket, Oroville, Okanogan, Culdesac, Disautel Pass, Lapwai, and Peck.

These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged. The NWS advises taking action now to safeguard sensitive plants from the cold.
