VERNON, Ind. — A 67-year-year-old woman faces charges after allegedly performing "donuts" on the Jennings County Courthouse lawn Monday. A video captured by the Jennings County Sheriff's Office shows a silver sedan spinning across the grass, narrowly missing trees and a light post. The vehicle also struck a sign.
Authorities identified the driver as Lorraine Phyllis Wilkerson, 67. The Sheriff's Office charged her with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more.
The Sheriff's Office posted the video and a message on social media, reminding the public about responsible drinking and safe transportation. "If you've had a few too many margaritas with dinner, please don't get behind the wheel, and definitely don't do donuts on the courthouse lawn," the post stated. "We encourage everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly and always make arrangements for a safe ride home if you've been drinking."
Vernon is located approximately 77 miles south of Indianapolis.
