Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint, celebrated for her roles in "On the Waterfront" and "North by Northwest," died Tuesday at age 102. She was the oldest living Oscar winner at the time of her passing.

Eva Marie Saint, the Oscar-winning actress known for her roles in classic films such as "On the Waterfront" and "North by Northwest," died Tuesday. She was 102.
Her representative confirmed Saint died of natural causes at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family. She was the oldest living Oscar winner at the time of her death.
Saint's career spanned more than 70 years across film, television, stage and radio. Her performance in the 1953 Broadway play "The Trip to Bountiful" caught the attention of director Elia Kazan, who cast her in her film debut.
She starred opposite Marlon Brando in the 1954 film "On the Waterfront." Saint won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role. Her filmography includes "North by Northwest," "Exodus," "The Sandpiper," "Superman Returns" and "Winter's Tale."
Saint also appeared in television productions such as a live musical adaptation of "Our Town," "How the West Was Won," and the 1996 "Titanic" miniseries. She voiced a character in the animated series "The Legend of Korra."
She grew up in Albany and Delmar, New York, and attended Bowling Green State University. She studied at The American Theatre Wing and with Lee Strasberg at The Actors Studio in New York City.
Saint was married to Jeffrey Hayden for 65 years until his death in December 2016. She is survived by her two children, Darrell Hayden and Laurette Hayden, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
