Bridgerton Spinoff: Young Lady Violet on Netflix

Ocoee residents who enjoy period dramas will soon have a new series to anticipate. Netflix and Shondaland have announced an upcoming limited series focusing on the early life of Lady Violet Bridgerton.

The currently untitled project will explore the formative years of the Bridgerton family matriarch and chronicle her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. Shonda Rhimes will co-showrun, executive produce, and write the series alongside Nicholas Nardini. Tom Verica will direct and executive produce.

This announcement comes as production is underway for the fifth season of the main "Bridgerton" series in London. Season five will center on the middle Bridgerton daughter, Francesca, played by Hannah Dodd. The season's logline states that Francesca, two years after losing her husband John, decides to re-enter the marriage market for practical reasons. Complications arise when John's cousin, Michaela Stirling, returns to London, forcing Francesca to question her intentions.

Masali Baduza will reprise her role as Michaela Stirling, Francesca's love interest and cousin to her late husband. Netflix descriptions indicate that Francesca, who has often felt out of place, will discover aspects of herself that could lead to significant changes. Michaela, described as charming and vivacious but prone to retreating when uncomfortable, must confront her vulnerabilities as she navigates her connection to her late cousin's legacy and to Francesca.

"Bridgerton" season five will consist of eight episodes. Jess Brownell will serve as showrunner and executive producer, alongside executive producers Rhimes, Verica, Betsy Beers, and Chris Van Dusen.
