A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Jackson, including Wade, Vancleave, and Escatawpa, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA, effective immediately as of October 9 at 10:02 AM CDT. The warning is in effect until 6:15 PM CDT today.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for hazardous wind conditions, with peak gusts up to 50 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Tree limbs may break, and some trees could be uprooted, leading to impassable roads from debris. Scattered power and communications outages are also anticipated. Authorities urge residents to complete efforts to protect property as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

Moderate flooding from heavy rainfall is also a significant concern, with an additional 1 inch of rain expected. This could lead to evacuations and rescues, swollen rivers, and localized flooding in low-lying areas. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Driving conditions will become hazardous, and some road and bridge closures are likely.

The NWS does not expect tornadoes, but residents should remain informed of any changes to the forecast. For more information, visit www.msema.org.
