Tropical Storm Warning for Northern Jackson: Act Now

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Northern Jackson, including Wade, Vancleave, and Escatawpa, urging residents to seek shelter immediately due to hazardous winds and potential for moderate flooding.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Jackson, effective immediately as of October 8 at 4:13 PM CDT, by the National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA. This warning affects residents in Wade, Vancleave, and Escatawpa.

Residents should move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Peak winds are forecast between 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with a potential for winds reaching 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including potential damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect broken tree limbs and scattered power outages. All remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.

Moderate flooding rain is also a significant concern, with around 1 inch of rainfall expected. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and tributaries may quickly swell, and floodwaters could enter structures and make roads impassable. Driving conditions will become hazardous.

The tornado threat remains low. This warning is set to expire on October 9, 2026, at 12:15 AM UTC. For more information, visit msema.org.
