Oakland Park is actively seeking a Manager of Technology, Strategy, and Application. This new leadership role will align the Information Technology Services Department with the City's objectives, aiming to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency.
Key responsibilities: strategy, operations, and partnerships
The Manager of Technology, Strategy, and Application will oversee a broad range of critical functions. This includes managing the daily administrative and personnel tasks for the IT Services Department, such as staff evaluations and disciplinary actions. The position also involves developing and implementing IT policies and procedures for the City.
A key aspect of the role is managing relationships with all third-party vendors who support the City’s systems and infrastructure. The Manager will also oversee the departmental budget for IT Services and all technology-related purchases across the City. Additionally, this position will supervise the outsourced contractor responsible for managing, monitoring, and repairing cameras within the City that are attached to Network Video Recording and Digital Video Recording devices.
Qualifications and impact on city services
Candidates for this position need a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technology-related field, along with at least six years of professional IT supervisory and managerial experience. Experience in a largely outsourced environment is preferred. The City also prefers candidates with a Master’s degree and certifications such as MCDBA, MCSE, or PMI.
This role is central to ensuring the operational readiness of the City’s systems and providing program management leadership for all approved IT initiatives. The Manager will review and approve all technology initiatives, processes, and changes to ensure alignment with the approved IT Strategy, directly impacting the reliability and effectiveness of city services for residents.
