The new coordinator will oversee childcare and recreational activities throughout Oakland Park. Responsibilities include planning and delivering recreational programming, supervising support staff, and ensuring the safety of facilities. This role requires significant latitude in decision-making, operating within established departmental policy.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation Management, Leisure Services, or a related field. They also need three years of previous recreational program experience in planning and delivering recreational, athletic, and leisure services programming. The city may consider an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
The position carries several certification requirements. New hires must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of employment. Mandatory Children and Family Services training and education requirements are necessary when assigned to the Childcare Division. Additionally, the State of Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Child Care Director Credentials must be obtained within six months of employment. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a P Endorsement is also required within nine months of employment.
