COASTAL JEFFERSON COUNTY, FL — A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Coastal Jefferson County, effective immediately from 11:04 AM EDT today, October 7, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This watch indicates that tropical storm-force winds and life-threatening storm surge are possible within the next 48 hours.
Residents in Coastal Jefferson County should act now to complete preparations for hazardous wind, with potential for gusts up to 30 mph and sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to property, including carports and unanchored mobile homes, is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway.
A Storm Surge Watch is also in effect, with life-threatening inundation of 3-5 feet above ground possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning.
