Life-Threatening Storm Surge Watch Issued for Coastal Jefferson
A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for Coastal Jefferson County, with life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet possible from Friday morning through Saturday morning. Evacuate if ordered.
A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Coastal Jefferson County, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, warns of the potential for life-threatening storm surge inundation of 4-6 feet above ground, particularly from Friday morning until Saturday morning.
Residents in surge-prone areas should finalize preparations for significant flooding. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, you must leave. Failure to evacuate may result in loss of life. Moderate rainfall of an additional 2-4 inches is also expected, potentially leading to widespread flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings. While winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, gusts up to 35 mph are possible. Tornadoes are not anticipated.
