Monroe County residents can now receive important updates directly to their mobile phones and email inboxes through the county’s “Notify Me” service. The system allows individuals to subscribe to various alert lists for community news, emergency notifications and official announcements.
The service offers several categories of alerts, including Emergency Notifications, Bid Postings, Calendar updates and News Flashes. Residents can choose to receive text messages for urgent alerts or email updates on a wider range of topics.
Available lists include:
- Alert Center: For emergency notifications and village council meeting information. A test emergency notification has been conducted. Residents can join village council meetings via a provided Zoom link if they experience issues with the live stream.
- Bid Postings: For notifications about open bids.
- Calendar: Updates for Building, Main Calendar, Meetings, Parks and Recreation, and the Weekly Pool Schedule.
- News Flash: Information from departments such as Fire Rescue, Public Works, the Village Manager and the Village Council. Updates specific to the Plantation Yacht Harbor Marina are also available.
To sign up, residents can visit the Notify Me portal, enter their phone number for text message alerts and select the lists they wish to subscribe to. Standard text messaging rates may apply. Users can also provide their email address and indicate a preference for HTML emails.
The service allows profile management, including updating name and address information, and provides an option to indicate how users heard about the service. Users can also unsubscribe from all lists.
To ensure delivery of these notifications, residents should set their spam blockers to allow mail from [email protected].
