A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Mobile Central, including Mobile, Prichard, and Theodore, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. This warning is in effect until 9:15 PM UTC today, October 9, 2026. Residents in these areas should complete all flood preparations and ordered evacuations without delay.
Life-threatening storm surge of 2-4 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Shelter against storm surge greater than 3 feet above ground. Evacuees should be in safe shelters well away from potential flooding. Do not venture outside once the storm surge begins. Potential impacts from the main surge event are currently unfolding.
Peak winds are forecast at 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Hazardous wind of tropical storm force is expected. Limited damage to property and scattered power outages are possible. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to moderate flooding.
