Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected Sunday

A Wind Advisory has been issued for parts of Colorado and Utah, with gusts up to 50 mph expected Sunday; residents should secure loose objects and drive with caution.

Staff Writer
10/10/2026 · Moab edition

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Grand Junction, CO, urging residents to prepare for strong winds this Sunday.

South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected from 9 AM MDT Sunday, October 11, until midnight MDT Sunday Night, October 11 (expiring 12:00 AM MDT October 12).

The advisory affects residents in Colorado's Four Corners/Upper Dolores River and Paradox Valley/Lower Dolores River areas. In Utah, the Arches/Grand Flat, Canyonlands/Natural Bridges, and Southeast Utah regions are included.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down, and isolated power outages are possible. Stronger thunderstorm potential could lead to locally higher wind gusts at times.

The NWS advises that winds this strong can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution when traveling during this period.
