Residents in Inland, Metropolitan, Coastal, and Far South Miami-Dade County should seek shelter immediately due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 11:00 PM EDT tonight, October 3, 2026.

At 10:13 PM EDT, NWS meteorologists detected a strong thunderstorm over Homestead Base, moving northwest at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph, as indicated by radar. Gusty winds could cause tree limbs to fall and unsecured objects to be blown around. Torrential rainfall is also expected, which may lead to localized flooding.

Affected areas include Homestead, Homestead Miami Speedway, Black Point, Florida City, Cutler Bay, Zoo Miami, and surrounding communities. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
