Chase Briscoe secured a crucial victory Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a win providing significant relief after a heartbreaking near-miss in Kansas the previous week. Briscoe held off strong challenges from Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick in the closing laps to take the checkered flag.

The win was particularly meaningful for Briscoe, who had let a similar opportunity slip away at Kansas Speedway. In that race, Briscoe had taken the lead with 30 laps remaining, only for Larson to reclaim the top spot with seven laps left. Briscoe described his mindset after that race as entering “desperation mode” in his attempt to regain the lead.

This time, Briscoe successfully defended his position. He expressed relief and satisfaction, joking about the pressure from his crew chief, James Small. "I was scared to see him if I didn’t pull that one off," Briscoe said. "What an amazing day." He acknowledged that while the win did not erase the sting of last week's outcome, it certainly improved his mood.

Briscoe’s driving in the final laps proved key. He focused on "hitting the bottom properly and slowing down" in the turns, a technique he admitted he doesn't always master, to counter Larson's advances. "I knew in three and four, if I just hit the bottom properly and slowed down... that he was going to have a hard time getting by me," Briscoe explained. "Just glad I was able to hold on. Last week was not a very fun mental place to be after throwing one away."

With this victory, Briscoe moved up three spots in the Chase standings. He now sits 84 points behind the leader with five races remaining in the season. His win also prevented Larson's No. 5 team from extending their lead significantly at the postseason's halfway point. The Chase continues next week at Charlotte.
