Residents of Maricopa County, Arizona, are advised that a Moderate Dust Advisory is in effect until 12:45 PM MST today, October 10, 2026. The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued this advisory at 11:47 AM MST due to hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility caused by blowing dust.

A wall of dust was observed at 11:47 AM MST along a line from 11 miles northwest of Gila Bend to 26 miles south of Gila Bend, moving northeast at 20 mph. Visibility is expected to be less than one mile, creating dangerous travel conditions.

Locations impacted include Buckeye, Gila Bend, Estrella, Bosque, Gila Bend Auxiliary Field, Sonoran National Monument, Cotton Center, Big Horn, Freeman, Painted Rock Dam, and Mobile. This advisory also affects AZ Interstate 8 between mile markers 107 and 116, AZ Route 85 near mile marker 1 and between mile markers 119 and 127, and AZ Route 238 near mile marker 1 and between mile markers 10 and 18.

If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights, and keep your foot off the brake. Blowing dust can be unhealthy and may lead to Valley Fever; therefore, avoid outdoor exposure. To report hazardous dust conditions, contact the National Weather Service or your nearest law enforcement agency.
