A Wind Advisory has been issued for a significant portion of south-central Arizona, effective from 8 AM to 5 PM MST on Sunday, October 9th. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix is warning residents to prepare for south winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 45 mph.

This advisory impacts a wide area including Aguila Valley, Northwest Valley, Tonopah Desert, Gila Bend, Buckeye/Avondale, Cave Creek/New River, Deer Valley, Central Phoenix, North Phoenix/Glendale, New River Mesa, Scottsdale/Paradise Valley, Rio Verde/Salt River, East Valley, Fountain Hills/East Mesa, South Mountain/Ahwatukee, Southeast Valley/Queen Creek, Superior, Northwest Pinal County, West Pinal County, Apache Junction/Gold Canyon, Tonto Basin, Mazatzal Mountains, Pinal/Superstition Mountains, Sonoran Desert National Monument, San Carlos, Dripping Springs, Globe/Miami, and Southeast Gila County.

Drivers, particularly those in high-profile vehicles, should exercise extreme caution as strong crosswinds will make driving difficult. Unsecured outdoor objects could become airborne. Additionally, strong winds in desert areas may cause blowing dust or sand, leading to reduced visibility. Use extra caution while traveling.
