A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for the San Luis Reservoir until 11 PM PDT Sunday, October 11, with west winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph creating hazardous conditions for small craft and making driving difficult for high-profile vehicles.
Boaters and travelers, be advised: A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for the San Luis Reservoir area, effective immediately until 11:00 PM PDT on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The National Weather Service in Hanford, CA, issued the advisory at 6:49 PM PDT on October 10, 2026.
West winds are expected to reach speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 40 mph. These conditions will create hazardous situations for small craft on the San Luis Reservoir due to strong winds and rough waves.
For those driving, particularly operators of high-profile vehicles, these strong winds can make travel difficult. Exercise extra caution on roadways in the affected area, which includes the West Side Mountains north of Highway 198, specifically around the San Luis Reservoir.
