Lake Wind Advisory for San Luis Reservoir: Hazardous Conditions Expected
A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for the San Luis Reservoir area until Sunday at 11:00 PM PDT, with winds up to 40 mph creating hazardous conditions for small craft and difficult driving for high-profile vehicles.
Boaters and motorists in the West Side Mountains north of Highway 198, particularly around San Luis Reservoir, should exercise extreme caution due to a Lake Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Hanford, CA. The advisory is effective immediately, beginning October 10 at 1:33 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until October 11 at 11:00 PM PDT.
West winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour, are expected. These strong winds and rough waves will create hazardous conditions for small craft on San Luis Reservoir.
The NWS advises that winds of this strength can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Residents and travelers in the affected area are urged to use extra caution.
