Country music star Miranda Lambert released her 10th solo album, Crisco, on Oct. 2. Lambert named the album after a phrase someone suggested: "country and disco is Crisco." The album explores a retro country-pop sound and features songs honoring women in Lambert's life.
Crisco includes a collaboration with Ella Langley on the opening track, "Snakeskin Boots." Lambert also covers Jim Croce's "I’ll Have to Say I Love You in a Song." For the first time, Lambert incorporated a string section into her music, calling the addition magical and essential to the album's cohesive sound.
Lambert is using platforms like TikTok to promote the album and increase its visibility. She believes streaming services offer more opportunities for female artists and allow them greater control over releases, moving away from the traditional radio-driven model. Lambert noted that younger artists navigate a different music industry landscape than she did early in her career.
Lambert splits her time between a farm near Nashville, Tennessee, and a home in Austin, Texas. The Tennessee property serves as a sanctuary where she cares for farm animals. She also visits family in her hometown of Lindale, Texas. Lambert co-founded the Big Loud Texas label imprint and participates in Nashville's network of female artists.
