Hotel Cala, a new seven-story hotel, will open on the Tampa Riverwalk in January 2027. The 281-room hotel, formerly the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk, is located at 200 N. Ashley Drive. It offers direct access to the riverwalk and downtown Tampa's amenities, including a resort-style pool deck and two restaurants.
Owners Newbond Holdings and Apollo Global Management invested over $90 million for the property's upgrades and rebranding. Hotel Cala will feature 16 suites and 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. The hotel aims to reflect Tampa's character, from Ybor City's history to its waterfront appeal.
Neil Luthra, a founding partner of Newbond Holdings, stated the hotel reimagines the site for a new generation and aims for a distinctly Tampa feel. The design includes local inspiration, such as fluted tile columns near the entrance honoring Ybor City's cigar factories, and floor-to-ceiling arched windows overlooking the riverwalk.
Dining options include LAVO, an upscale coastal Italian restaurant managed by Tao Hospitality Group. LAVO serves pizzas, pastas, and other signature dishes, with existing locations in New York, Las Vegas, and London. BarOnda will offer cocktails and smaller plates.
Hotel Cala will operate as part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Schulte Hospitality will manage the hotel.
