Extreme Heat Warning Issued for LA and Ventura Counties
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, effective immediately until October 8, with temperatures reaching up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit.
Residents across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit at the coast and up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit in the valleys. This warning is effective immediately, October 4 at 11:04 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8.
Affected areas include Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, Ojai Valley, Central Ventura County Valleys, Malibu Coast, Los Angeles County Beaches, Palos Verdes Hills, Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles, Western Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Calabasas and Agoura Hills, Western San Fernando Valley, Eastern San Fernando Valley, Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, Santa Susana Mountains, and Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley.
The NWS advises that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To protect yourself and others, residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
