Extreme Heat Warning: Act Now for Safety in LA and Ventura Counties
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties until Thursday, October 8, with temperatures up to 106 degrees; residents should drink fluids, stay indoors, and check on neighbors.
Residents across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. This warning is effective immediately, beginning October 5, 2026, at 2:47 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching 90 to 100 degrees along the coast and soaring up to 106 degrees in the valleys. This heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The affected areas include Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands; Santa Clarita Valley; Ventura County Beaches; Ventura County Inland Coast; Lake Casitas; Ojai Valley; Central Ventura County Valleys; Malibu Coast; Los Angeles County Beaches; Palos Verdes Hills; Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles; Western Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area; Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area; Calabasas and Agoura Hills; Western San Fernando Valley; Eastern San Fernando Valley; Southeastern Ventura County Valleys; Santa Susana Mountains; and Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley.
To protect yourselves and others, the NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
