Winter Storm Warning for Absaroka/Beartooth and Crazy Mountains

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Absaroka/Beartooth and Crazy Mountains from Saturday evening through Monday afternoon, with heavy snow and strong winds expected.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Absaroka/Beartooth Mountains and Crazy Mountains, effective from Saturday, October 10, at 6:00 PM MDT until Monday, October 12, at 12:00 PM MDT. The National Weather Service in Billings, MT, issued the warning at 7:00 PM MDT on October 9.

Residents and recreationalists in the affected mountain ranges should prepare for periods of heavy snow. Total snow accumulations are expected to be between 10 and 18 inches, with the highest amounts occurring above 8000 feet. Winds are also forecast to gust as high as 35 mph.

The National Weather Service warns that recreation in the high country will be impacted by harsh wintry conditions. Those planning to be in these areas should be prepared for severe weather.
