Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Southern Liberty; Immediate Action Urged
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Southern Liberty, including Central City and Apalachicola National Forest, until 10:15 AM EDT. Prepare for hazardous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes, and move to safe shelter immediately.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southern Liberty, including Central City and the Apalachicola National Forest, effective immediately as of October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL. This warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM EDT today, October 10.
Residents should prepare for potential wind gusts up to 35 mph, with a threat of sustained winds between 39 to 57 mph. Complete all remaining efforts to protect property as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Expect potential limited damage to property, including porches and unanchored mobile homes, along with scattered power and communications outages. Some roads may become impassable due to debris, particularly in urban or heavily wooded areas.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with emergency plans needing to include the potential for major flooding from heavy rain. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and residents are strongly advised to heed any flood watches and warnings. Failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow their banks, and floodwaters could enter many structures. Driving conditions will become dangerous with potential road and bridge closures.
The situation is also favorable for tornadoes. There is a potential for several tornadoes, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if one is issued. Significant impacts from tornadoes could include widespread damage, power loss, and dangerous projectiles.
