Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Northern Liberty County
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Northern Liberty County, urging residents in Hosford and Bristol to prepare for hazardous winds, potential major flooding, and several possible tornadoes, according to the NWS.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Liberty County, including Hosford and Bristol, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT. Residents are urged to complete all preparations immediately and move to safe shelter as hazardous wind conditions are expected.
Wind speeds are forecast between 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property and trees is possible, along with scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions may develop, particularly on bridges.
A Flood Watch is in effect, and the NWS warns of a potential for major flooding from heavy rain, despite no additional significant rainfall being forecast. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and serious injury or loss of life could occur without protective action. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Roads may become impassable.
The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with a potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Scattered tornadoes could cause significant damage, power loss, and communications failures.
There is little to no storm surge inundation forecast. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee or Florida Division of Emergency Management.
