Sumter County Fire & EMS received the American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Achievement Award, the department's first recognition through the national program.

The award recognizes the department's commitment to rapid, evidence-based care for heart attack and stroke patients. The announcement came during Emergency Medical Services Week, May 17-23.

Mission: Lifeline sets national standards for emergency response to cardiac and stroke emergencies. The Silver Achievement Award acknowledges departments that demonstrate consistent adherence to treatment protocols and rapid response times. In heart attack and stroke cases, minutes determine patient outcomes.

Sumter County Fire & EMS operates multiple stations with paramedics and emergency medical technicians trained in advanced life support.
