Citrus County Wins State Awards for Growth Planning
Citrus County received two state awards this month for its Interactive Growth Model and economic development website.
The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council presented the Future of the Region Award at its 2026 Resiliency Summit. The county's Interactive Growth Model uses data to forecast growth, measure infrastructure impacts, and guide capital investments. County Administrator Steve Howard said the model helps prioritize improvements to transportation, fire services, and emergency response.
The Florida Economic Development Council named citrusadvantage.com, which launched in February, the best economic development website. The site showcases local business opportunities and community assets. Steven Baham, Citrus County Economic Development Director, said the redesign strengthened the county's ability to attract business and communicate its advantages.
The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners recognized both awards on Tuesday, May 27.
