Drivers in Lac Qui Parle and Yellow Medicine counties are advised to reduce speed and use low beam headlights this morning due to areas of fog, some of which may be dense.

A Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN at 3:55 AM CDT on October 12, 2026, indicates that visibility could be reduced to as low as one-quarter mile. The NWS warns that these foggy conditions may be encountered quickly while traveling and could persist through daybreak.

Reduced visibility can make driving conditions hazardous. The NWS advises motorists to allow plenty of distance ahead of them when traveling. This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires at 10:00 AM UTC (5:00 AM CDT) today, October 12, 2026.
