Rip Current Statement Issued: Coastal Flood Advisory Also in Effect
A Rip Current Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory have been issued for Aransas, Kleberg, Nueces, and Calhoun Islands by the NWS, warning of dangerous rip currents through Friday evening and minor coastal flooding until Sunday morning.
Residents and visitors in Aransas Islands, Kleberg Islands, Nueces Islands, and Calhoun Islands are advised of a Rip Current Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Corpus Christi TX.
A High Rip Current Risk is in effect through Friday evening, October 9, 2026. Dangerous rip currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water, posing a life-threatening risk. If caught in a rip current, the NWS advises relaxing and floating. Do not swim against the current. If able, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. Whenever possible, swim near a lifeguard.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect until 7 AM CDT Sunday, October 11, 2026. Minor coastal flooding is expected, potentially affecting lots, parks, and roads. Isolated road closures may occur. If travel is required, allow extra time. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
